Chemokines shape the immune responses to tuberculosis

SR Slight, SA Khader - Cytokine & growth factor reviews, 2013 - Elsevier
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is the intracellular pathogen that causes the disease,
tuberculosis. Chemokines and chemokine receptors are key regulators in immune cell
recruitment to sites of infection and inflammation. This review highlights our recent advances
in understanding the role of chemokines and chemokine receptors in cellular recruitment of
immune cells to the lung, role in granuloma formation and host defense against Mtb
infection.
